Where I’ve Been: The Toymaker’s Apprentice NoCal Tour!

Reading Bug SignThe weekend after The Toymaker’s Apprentice  launched, the party continued in Northern California!  The fun started with a trip to The Reading Bug in San Carlos, CA.  What a beautiful store!  Reading Bug TA Display LSAfter reading in their adorable party room, we painted nutcracker ornaments!

I even got to sign one of their author trees!

As I was leaving, I made a fortuitous stop at Clocksmith, a wonderful clock store in San Carlos.

My impromptu photo session lead to a wonderful conversation with Fred, the owner, and a tour of the store.  It reminded me so much of the Clockmaker’s Guildhall in the book that I had to take a few pictures!

I especially loved the creepy, cool diorama a longtime customer made to honor the store.

The clocksmith’s eyepiece echoes Christians’ eyepatch perfectly!

From San Carlos, I headed to Los Altos, for a reading at Linden Tree Books.

Another gorgeous store!  I could spend a few happy hours wandering these shelves, couldn’t you?

I was lucky to have the wonderful Stacey Lee join me for my reading, and a fun craft making candy cane mice!  If you haven’t read Stacey’s debut novel, I urge you to pick it up right away!

Around the corner from Linden Tree Books is another wonderful find– Satura Cakes!

‘Nuff said!

After tea and cakes, it was time to head up to San Francisco for Litcrawl SF.  What a blast!  The whole Mission had been taken over by literature loves.  Readings were crowded into storefronts, cafes, restaurants, galleries– it was wonderful.

There, I joined Shades and Shadows and the ladies of Girls Gone Sci Fi for a great night of SFF snippets with Lauren Candia, Karen Sandler (Tankborn), Jessica Brody (Unremembered) and Lauren Miller (Free to Fall).

As you can see, The Toymaker’s Apprentice has been on quite a magic carpet ride!  It was a fantastic trip.
